HOW TO BUY, SELL, AND TRADE CRYPTO ON AN EXCHANGE

SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT

To start buying, selling, and trading cryptocurrency, choose a reliable exchange such as Coinbase or Binance. Sign up using your email address and create a strong password. Complete the identity verification process, known as KYC, by uploading documents like your driver's license or passport. This step ensures compliance and security, taking a few minutes to a day. Once verified, you can access full features for transactions. Always enable two-factor authentication for extra protection against unauthorized access.

ADDING FUNDS TO YOUR ACCOUNT

After your account is set up, link a bank account or credit card to deposit funds. Use methods like ACH transfer for low fees or card for instant deposits, though with higher charges. Deposit an amount you're comfortable with, starting small if new to crypto. Funds appear in your balance quickly for bank transfers or immediately for cards. This step is essential for buying crypto, and remember to check for any deposit bonuses or promotions offered by the exchange to maximize your starting capital.

BUYING AND SELLING CRYPTO

Navigate to the trading or buy/sell section on the exchange. To buy, select a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin or USDT, enter the amount, and review the current price and fees. Confirm the purchase, and the crypto will appear in your wallet. For selling, choose the crypto from your holdings, specify the amount to sell, and execute the trade. Funds from sales go to your account balance, which you can withdraw to your bank. Always monitor market prices to time your buys and sells effectively for better returns.

TRADING CRYPTO PAIRS

Trading involves using crypto pairs like BTC/USDT, where BTC is the base currency and USDT is the quote. The pair price indicates how much USDT is needed to buy one BTC. To trade, go to the exchange's spot or futures market, select the pair, decide on buy (long) or sell (short), and enter your order type such as market or limit. Confirm after reviewing details. Pairs allow swapping one crypto for another without fiat currency, useful for arbitrage or hedging strategies. Research liquidity and volatility to avoid high risks, and use tools like charts for informed decisions.
